Blondie Live at the Birmingham Academy - 15th November 2003

I had never been to see Blondie before, and apart from knowledge of the obvious hits I didn’t really know much about them. I was lucky enough to get a spot right at the front and there I was for the entirety in complete awe. Later I was to find out that Debbie Harry was 58 and so my amazement continued, because when she appeared on stage she looked absolutely stunning. I had heard her sing live on TV shows when Maria was doing well and had given her a bit of criticism but the only criticism that I could level at her tonight was that she didn’t sing my favourite song Call Me. I wished that I knew more of their music then, but still I enjoyed Detroit 442, Heart Of Glass, Atomic (wow!) and others. I loved the songs from the new album, particularly Hello Joe, and so I went out and bought a copy a couple of days later. So began my obsession with Blondie and I can’t wait until my next opportunity to see their incredible live performances.
